Water Treatment Plant informational meeting

BELOIT - An information meeting on the City of Beloit Water Treatment Plant and water pipeline will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19 at the Beloit Municipal meeting room.

City Manager Jason Rabe says the first session will last approximately 45 minutes to give an overview of the project, costs, financing/grants, and expected results. Questions will be welcomed and additional meetings will be held in upcoming weeks.

Women’s retreat program offered at Zion Lutheran

BELOIT - A Cozy Mountain Lodge women’s retreat program will be presented by Rev. Laura Smith with a 9:30 a.m. sign-in and a 10 a.m. start on Saturday, March 21 at the Zion Lutheran Church, 621 N. Mill. Beloit.

Registrations entered by March 15th will be entered for a drawing and free will donations will be accepted to cover program costs.

Trojan Grounds offers coffee/cookie event

BELOIT - The Beloit High School Trojan Grounds coffee shop, ran by the students, will celebrate their one year anniversary from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13.

The staff would like to invite the community to visit the coffee shop to enjoy a free cup of coffee and a cookie during this time. The students are proud to display the project which has offered redesign initiatives at the school.

VFW Post 6242 will serve Sunday breakfast

BELOIT - The VFW Post 6242 will be serving breakfast 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, at the VFW home 102 E. South street, Beloit.

Hash browns, scrambled eggs, sausage, Belgian waffles, biscuits and gravy, fruit, coffee and juice will be served with donations, that will be used for Post projects (Patriot Pens, Angel Tree projects, Christmas dinner, etc.)

BHS FFA Mountain Oyster feed/Hog raffle

BELOIT - The Beloit FFA Chapter are selling hog raffle tickets, available by contacting a Beloit High FFA member. The first and second prizes will be half of a hog. The third and fourth will be a quarter of a hog. Prizes 5 - 9 will be a $20 car wash card and prizes 10-14 will be 10 pounds of ground beef. The hog raffle drawing will be at halftime of the boys basketball game on Feb. 11.

Beloit Community Blood Drive Feb. 13-14

BELOIT - The Beloit Community Blood Drive will take place from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13 and from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 14 at the North Central Kansas Wellness Center Gym, 3033 US Hwy 24, Beloit.

The event is sponsored by the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation, Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems and Asherville Acheivers 4-H Club.

BINGO in the afternoon at Beloit Senior Center

BELOIT - The Beloit Senior Center, 220 N. Hersey, will offer BINGO in the afternoon from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.

Seating is limited so RSVP soon (738-5802 or e-mail beloitseniorcenter@nckcn.com) to reserve a seat. The cost is free and dessert and beverages will be provided along with many prizes.

Friendship Meals serving Monday at Beloit UMC

BELOIT — Friendship Meals will be held on Monday, Feb. 17 by the Friendship Dinner Team. It will consist of Betty’s Chicken Casserole, Peas and Carrots, Plums or Peaches and Cake. Serving is from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall at the corner of Bell and 8th street in Beloit. A free will donation is welcome.
