Wheat field fireworks fire information needed
BELOIT – A wheat field fire is suspected to have started from fireworks, south on the Tipton K Road and off 290 Road on Sunday, June 28.
The field belonging to Bill Wendell was controlled after a five acre loss of wheat.

Beloit Call schedule for July 4 week publications
BELOIT – The Beloit Call will be closed on Friday, July 3 to observe Independence Day. Instead there will be a newspaper printed on Thursday July 2, so if you want something in for Friday’s edition you will need to send in earlier for a Thursday replacement edition.
Lovewell affected by blue-green algae
WEBBER – As of Monday, Lovewell Reservoir has been placed in a Warning Status for harmful bluegreen algae present. Direct contact with water affected by the bloom is discouraged, and persons and pets should avoid areas of algae accumulation. The swimming beach has been closed. Fishing is safe, but clean the fish well and keep only the fillets.
The Fireworks Display originally scheduled for Friday evening July 3 had been moved to Saturday, Sept. 5, which is Labor Day Weekend. As a reminder, fireworks are not allowed at any time in Lovewell State Park, the private cabin or trailer areas, or on Lovewell Wildlife Area, including the Independence Day Holiday weekend. Covid-19 area numbers increase
CONCORDIA – There are now 23 Covid-19 cases in Concordia as of June 28 with 12 tests pending. Republic County has one new case in her teens related to a current outbreak that exists and effects 13 Kansas counties.
Gray Drug & Fountain will close for graduation
BELOIT – Gray Drug & Fountain will be closed all day on Friday, July 3rd for the 10 a.m. Beloit High School Graduation.
Graduation dates reset for BHS and St. John’s
BELOIT – Beloit High School graduation is at 10 a.m., July 3.
St. John’s Catholic High School is planning on a 2 p.m. July 19 graduation.
No Community Luncheon on July 2
BELOIT – Due to a schedule conflict, there will be no Community Luncheon at the Boost Blessing House on July 2. If a reschedule is able to happen, they will let the public no.
