Lutheran World Relief items delivered
BELOIT – The Beloit area Lutheran World Relief had a highly successful year despite the Covid-19 threat. The work on the kits and quilts has continued working the whole year whether together on work days or individually at home. With the help of generous donations, the following was recently shipped out including 49 quilts, 5 blankets, 9 fabric kits, 103 school kits, 90 personal care kits, and 344 baby care kits. 123 boxes totaling 2104 pounds being sent.
It took time, effort and money and supplies to make the quilts and kits. A A total of 344 baby care kits would equal 688 baby blankets and 1376 diapers. Most of the baby blankets and diapers were hand made. With two bars of soap in every baby care kit and personal care kit that equals 868 bars of soap. Four notebooks in every school kit equals 412 notebooks, five each of pencils and pens equals 515 each. There were yards of fabric in the quilts and many skeins of yarn for the knitted and crocheted blankets, baby sweaters and hats.
Many area individuals and merchants donated items for Lutheran world relief.
The annual caring project now begins again, immediately for 2021.
