NWS issues hazardous weather outlook
BELOIT – Blizzard Warnings, High Wind Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories are in effect tonight (Wednesday) through Thursday, as the National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Phillips, Smith, Jewell, Rooks, Osborne and Mitchell Counties.
Severe thunderstorms are likely today (Wednesday) with a forecast of very large or golf ball size hail and wind gust of 60 mph. A tornadic storm or two cannot be ruled out near Nebraska and the Kansas state line into north central Kansas.
This potential storm will impact the region overnight through Thursday bringing wintry precipitation and intense winds.
In the Beloit area, a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms are predicted for today which extends into Thursday with rain and snow and a high near 44 degrees. Wind gusts continue to blow as high as 45 mph. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Friday is forecast as sunny with a high near 51 degrees and wind gusts as high as 25mph which extends into Saturday with a high near 52 degrees, 60 degrees on Sunday and a high near 71 degrees on Monday.
