Record rainfall to cooler temps
BELOIT – July will end with record rainfall as some areas in Mitchell County have received over 20 inches for the month. Just this week Beloit added 4.74 inches; Glen Elder 3.50 inches and Jewell 3.62 inches of rain. Areas southeast of Beloit around Asherville and Simpson received another 4-6 inches.
Today sunny skies are forecast for a cooler 82 degrees which will be present all through the next week.
A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms are possible on Saturday at 84 degrees. Clear skies remain on Sunday and Monday at 75 degrees.
Another 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms is forecast for Tuesday and a 40 percent chance on Wednesday with temperatures in the upper 70's.
On a side-note: the Farmers' Almanac predicts that two-thirds of the country will face a colder-than-normal winter season this year with frequent snow events – from flurries to no fewer than seven big snowstorms from coast to coast.
