Walter named Accounting Student of the Year
ATCHISON – Elizabeth Walter, daughter of Joe and Kate Walter of Beloit, recently received the Accounting Student of the Year Award from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan. The award is given each year to the college’s top student in Accounting & Finance. Not only has she completed her schooling with honors, Walter is also graduating in just three years.
“She is really an exceptional young woman,” said Dr. Michael King, chair of the college’s School of Business. “And those of us in Accounting and Finance realized (that) in her freshman year.”
Walter’s primary accounting professor, Kristen Whiteley, assistant professor in the School of Business, agreed, stating in her award presentation that Walter always put her best effort forward, was engaged in all of her classes, always had a positive attitude, and was an excellent student and wonderful person.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed having Elizabeth as a student,” said Whiteley. “She is a true pleasure to be around.”
Walter will begin her career as a staff accountant in the Kansas City office of RubinBrown LLP, one of the nation’s leading accounting and professional consulting firms.
