Jason Rabe announced during Wednesday’ s Beloit City Council meeting that the Basics of Design Technical Memorandum was approved. This is a significant milestone in the completion of the Water Treatment Plan. Also, the KDA Water Diversion Application was approved. This allows the city to access water from Waconda Lake.

BELOIT – In a surprise announcement on Tuesday, Solomon Valley Community Foundation (SVCF) informed NCK Outdoors that they too would be receiving $50,000 to move forward with their plans of developing a multi-use trail in, and around Chautauqua Park.
Only one item was on Tuesday’ s Mitchell County Commissioners meeting, being the Transient Guest Tax otherwise known as the Bed Tax. Kent Miller, Janet Remus, and Lucille Heller represented the Mitchell County Tourism group. Miller said, “ We would like to request an increase in the Transient Guest Tax from two percent to four percent. I have done some checking and Mitchell County has by far the lowest precent rate in our area.”
BELOIT – Twenty one students and adults from Beloit High School ventured to Spain in early June, as they went on a Spanish adventure from June 4-15. The trip was initially planned for the summer of 2021 but was pushed back due to travel restrictions.
