Mitchell County Clerk, Chris Treaster, announced there was a fiveway tie in the voting for the Post Rock Extension Council position. The correct procedure for breaking such a tie is to draw a name out of a box she had prepared. Commission President Tom Claussen drew Joyce McKinney’s name from the five slips of paper in the box. If she declines the honor of serving, the commissioners will appoint one of the other names from the tied vote.
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Aspen Institute has named North Central Kansas Technical College (NCK Tech) in the 150 institutions eligible to compete for the $1 million Aspen Prize for Community College Excellence, the nation's signature recognition of high achievement and performance among America's community colleges. The colleges selected for this honor stand out among more than 1,000 community colleges nationwide as having high and improving levels of student success as well as equitable outcomes for Black and Hispanic students and those from lower income backgrounds.
