Commissioners request grants be presented
Kegan Bailey from the Regional Planning Commission was present during Monday's Mitchell County Commissioners meeting to discuss the rules for the ARPA (American Rescue Plan Grant) program. She said that the Federal Government has been using interim rules to manage the program. Hopefully, they will have finalized rules in place by the end of the year of the beginning of 2022. Bailey asked the commissioners if they would like to implement public forums for grant requests to build a stronger base of understanding on how the money will be spent. Commissioner Chairperson Tom Claussen said he would strongly prefer that grant requests come before the commission before a decision is made. They would take the idea of a public forum meeting under advisement.
