County Census shows population decline

BELOIT – The 2021 Kansas Census results for Mitchell County, Kansas, according to the World Population Review, shows an estimated population of 5,717 with a growth rate of -2.24% in the past year according to the most recent United States data. Mitchell County is the 60th largest county in Kansas. The 2010 population was 6,336 and has seen a growth of -9.77% since this time. Beat the heat!

Several children and adults have been beating the heat while having fun at the Beloit City Pool as temperatures rise. The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for Mitchell county for today and tonight (Wednesday) as the heat index is to reach as high as 100-105 degrees extending into Thursday with slight chances of thunderstorms and wind gusts as high as 30 mph.
