The commissioners expressed their condolences, during Monday’s Mitchell County Commissioners meeting, to the family of Darrel Oetting. Mr. Oetting, a former Lincoln County Commissioner recently passed away unexpectedly. Mr. Oetting was well liked and respected by people in North Central Kansas.
CLOUD COUNTY —One person died in an accident just before 7 p.m. on Tuesday in Cloud County.
Shrine Bowl meaning comes to life
The Jewell County Senior Center in Mankato has become a popular place for seniors from many counties to socialize. There are weekly daily meals, bible study, dominos, and special events. Forty-two county residents were present for the Buffet meal and Bingo at Jewell County Senior Center in Mankato on July 22. The evening meal included ham and cheese sandwiches, potato, pasta and frog eye salad, chips, and fresh fruit prepared by Sammy Nance, Carol Thomason, and Karen Cook. Lynch and Thomas made homemade vanilla ice cream with a variety of toppings for dessert. Carol Thomason, Manager of the Jewell County Senior Center, organized the Buffet meal and Bingo. After the meal was finished Bingo began with Don Kofter as the Bingo Caller. Winners of each round of Bingo selected from donated prizes. Those who attended were welcomed back next week for daily meals and various other functions. The community participants had a night of food, fun and prizes at the “ Make Up Meal” and Bingo event.
