Left: The City of Beloit employees were out early Friday morning to adorn the streets with United States flags in preparation for the Memorial Day weekend events. The Memorial Day holiday takes place annually on the last Monday in May and is a dedicated day for honoring United States military personnel who have died while serving in the United States armed forces. Over 1.3 million Americans have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their nation, Join the VFW Post 6242 on Monday, May 29, in Beloit while they honor those men during the VFW Memorial Day Ceremony at the Veterans Monument, north end of Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit at 10 a.m. This is a very special ceremony to honor the United States Veterans and the military that serves our country. Below: Harvest crews have started heading south for possible wheat harvest. The projection for total production is 178 million bushels, indicating abandonment might be high at 26.75 percent. Wheat harvests typically begins in early to mid June and is complete by mid July. It begins in the south central part of the state and moves north and west.
