CONCORDIA - Richard Larson of Beloit, and Bill Powell of Concordia recently received recognition for their years of service on the Sunset Home Board of Directors. Board President, Joann Freeborn; Vice President, Jarold Hayden; and Administrator, Teresa Shippy presented them with personalized plaques. Sunset Home have since, welcomed new board members, Jim Jackson and Jeff Bender of Concordia. Sunset Home Senior Living Community is a locally owned and operated non-profit organization that has offered healthcare and housing options for older adults for over a century. Their mission is to provide a safe, comfortable, compassionate, and active environment for all levels of care. Youth learn importance of Tractor Safety

BELOIT - Youth gathered in Beloit on April 29 at Carrico Implement to focus on agricultural farm safety, Whether they live on a farm or are employed by a farm family, it is critical that youth understand the importance of their role in keeping themselves safe, With so many youths active on a family farm operation, this program aimed, to focus on teaching them the components of farm and tractor safety and the dangers of the industry. The program, hosted by K-State Research and Extension’§ Post Rock and River Valley Extension Districts, provided a learning environment where the 23 youth in attendance could focus on learning skills to prepare them for engaging and working on a farm.

Federal transportation funding for NCRPC

BELOIT — North Central Regional Planning Commission (NCKPC) has been named an awardee of two different programs offered through the U.S. Department of Transportation, “We are fortunate to have received both awards in a highly competitive process at the federal level,” said Debra Carlson Ohlde, NCRPC Strategic Development Advisor, Based in Beloit, the NCRPC serves as the rural economic development district comprised of 12 counties with 83 towns in North Central Kansas.
