SMITH CENTER - Margie Ilene Heeler age 90, passed on to her heavenly home on Tues., March 2, 2021 at Downs Care and Rehabilitation Center in Downs, KS. Margie was born in Tipton, Ks., on Nov. 9, 1930 the daughter of Earl and Opal Henry.
BELLEVILLE – Funeral services for Lela Heiman, age 92 of Belleville & formerly of Beloit, will be at 10 AM Saturday, March 6 at the St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Belleville followed by burial in St. John’s Cemetery in Beloit. Mrs. Heiman died peacefully with her family surrounding her on Sunday, February 28 at her home in Belleville. Survivors include children, Steven of Belleville, Reva Hoffer of Atwood, Roger of Tucson, AZ, Kathy Burnham of Murfeesboro, TN, June Heiman of Phoenix, Jim of Topeka, Jeff of Beloit, & Jay of Barnard; 14 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; & 1 great-great grandchild. A vigil service will be at 7 PM Friday, March 5 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home in Beloit, & visitation will be from 1 PM until the vigil service begins. Memorials may be given to the Diocese of Salina/Prayer in Action, Meadowlark Hospice, or Republic County Senior Center. Roberts Family Funeral Services, Beloit, is in charge of arrangements.
DENVER – On Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2021, Samuel Charles Schneider, age 20, peacefully passed away of Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of cancer. He was surrounded by his family.
VESPER – William “Bill” Earl Nelson, 60, passed away Tuesday, February 16, 2021 at his home in Vesper, KS. He was born January 17, 1961 in Lincoln, KS to Jay and Dorris (McGeary) Nelson.
BELOIT – Virgil Marvin English passed away on Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit Kansas, at the age of 89 years. Virgil and his twin sister, Vonna, were born June 25, 1931 on the family farm in Asherville township, they were the youngest of five children born to Ernest and Myrtle (Jones) English. Virgil was the last surviving sibling. He graduated from Beloit High School in 1949. In 1951 Virgil entered the Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Upon returning from the war, he worked for his Uncle’s on the Jones custom combine crew from Lincoln County. He later worked for Payne Motor Company in Beloit.
