William “Cecil” Sporleder, 78, Beloit
BELOIT – William Cecil Sporleder Sr. was born October 18, 1941. He left this Earth on October 8, 2020 at the age of 78. Cecil was born in Beloit, Kansas to Harry “Pete” Sporleder and Francis Laflin Sporleder where he resided until his passage.
He was united in marriage to Margaret McCorkle on September 17, 1959. Five children were born to this union. William Cecil Jr., Jeannie, Peter, Jodie and Jesse.
Cecil was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed watching professional wrestling and his westerns. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved stories told over a cup of coffee at the kitchen table.
Most of his adult life was spent working at Thompson Ok Tire in Beloit where he recapped tires for semis.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Pete and Francis Sporleder, brothers Stanley and Michael, his wife Margaret McCorkle Sporleder and sons William Cecil Jr and Jesse Sporleder.
Survivors include his children Jeannie Downing and husband John, Peter Sporleder and daughter Jodie Norberg and husband Mark along with a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Roger, Roy, & Dennis; sisters, Margie Lafary, Rosemary Witt, and Barbara St. John; and others who called him grandpa. He will be greatly missed by many.
Graveside services were at 1:30 PM Monday, October 12 at Elmwood Cemetery in Beloit. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Waconda Lake Kids Fish-A-Thon or Solomon Valley Hospice. Roberts Family Funeral Services, Beloit, is in charge of arrangements.
