Jordan attends Kansas Honor Flight
WASHINGTON D.C. – Kansas Honor Flight made another trip to Washington, D.C., flight #75, September 17-20, 2019, in Wichita.
There was 56 Veterans on board, including Arthur Nathan Jordan, Beloit.
Jordan was in the Navy and Vietnam War. His family took him down to meet the team of Veterans and get on the plane in Wichita as they all were attired in Honor Flight shirts and caps of red.
Wednesday evening a banquet was held for the Veterans team in Baltimore. At the banquet, they had a project mail call. This was a big moment when waiting to hear word from home. Letters were sent out to their family and asked to send letters to Wichita for the occasion. They are gathered and put into bundles for the Veterans to receive on that day. Jordan received quite a few letters of appreciation.
Jordan visited museums with his fellow Veterans and also saw the Vietnam War Wall. On the wall, it listed a member of Jordan's company and also his captain, who gave his life.
The Veterans had a busy day touring Washington including the WWII Memorial, Korean War Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Air Force Memorial, Navy Memorial, Marine Memorial, Tomb of the Unknown, Arlington Cemetery and many other sites.
Friday, the Kansas Honor Flight #75 came home to Wichita. As they arrived at the Eisenhower Airport #698 at 12 p.m., Jordan's family was there to greet him.
"It was quite a welcome home with flags, balloons, signs, banners and family and friends. There were bands, school kids and a huge crowd to yell, "Welcome Home".
Jordan said it was quite a trip and recommends that all Veterans attend.
