Beloit boys regional track runner-ups

Trojans place 15 for State track and field

SCOTT CITY – The Trojan track teams traveled to Scott City to compete in the regional meet on Thursday, May 16. Regional track meets are made up of 16 teams. The top 4 place finishers in each event qualify to compete at the state meet held at Cessna Stadium in Wichita on May 24 and May 25.

The lady Trojans had an outstanding meet, qualifying 6 for the state meet and bringing home 8 medals (5 - silver, 3 - 4th) and finished the meet in 5th place. Norton won the meet with 79 points and Phillipsburg was second with 78 points.

Second place finishers for Beloit were Hayley Burks in the 1600m run in 5:40.04 and the 3200m run in 12:36.87, Khylie Mihm in the 300m hurdles in 49.22, Blaise Spangler in the pole vault at 10’6”, and Sage Prochaska in the discus at 108’10”.

Fourth place finishers were Avery Johnson in the shot put at 35’11.25” and the discus at 101’5”, and Caleigh Hewitt in the pole vault at 10’0”.

The Trojan boys competed very well, qualifying 9 for the state meet and bringing home 16 medals (4 -gold, 2 -silver, 4 -bronze, 6-4th) and were regional runner-up with 100 points. Scott City won the meet with 164 points and Colby was third with 53.5 points.

First place finishers for Beloit were Zach Meier in the 300m hurdles in 40.96, Colin Chandler in the shot put at 53’2.25”, Creighton Johnson in the discus at 160’2”, and Brennan Walker in the javelin at 168’5”.

The second place medalist was Vincent Palen in the 110m high hurdles in 15.41 and the triple jump at 42’ 3”.

Third place finishers were Bryce Mason in the javelin at 159’9”, Vincent Palen in the 300m hurdles in 42.16, Creighton Johnson in the shot put at 49’9”, and Colin Chandler in the discus at 142’7”.

Fourth place finishers were Trase McQueen in the 400m dash in 52.46, Hudson Gray in the triple jump at 42’0.5”, and the 4x400m relay team of Hudson Gray, Tristen Brummer, Trase McQueen, and Zach Meier in 3:32.23.

Coach Isbell said, “I’m proud of all of the kids. They competed very well and stepped up when they needed to. They have represented our school well and it should be an exciting couple of days in Wichita.”

The Trojans will travel to Cessna Stadium in Wichita on Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25 to compete in the state meet.
