Henke Athlete of the Week
Beloit Senior Anthony Henke has been named the NCKSSports.com/ Cunningham Telephone and Cable Athlete of the Week.
Henke has been solid all season for the Beloit Trojan football team and stepped up in the clutch in Friday night's 32-26 win over Haven in 2OT in the 2A quarterfinal playoff game. Henke ran for 67 yards on 16 carries, but after an injury to Benson Berndt, he took over the heavy load. With 1:45 left in the 4th quarter he converted on a 3rd and 9 run to help keep the ball away from Haven in regulation. He also scored a touchdown on the first play from scrimmage in OT and added the two-point run. In the second OT, Henke scored the game winning touchdown on 4th & Goal to vault Beloit to the semifinals in the 2A playoffs. Henke also had a key sack on defense in the victory. On the season, Henke has run for 600 yards and 11 TD. He has averaged 5.5 yards per carry this season. On defense, he has 35 tackles with five for loss and three sacks.
