Phillipsburg wins Beloit Jr. Trojans opener

BELOIT – The Beloit Junior High football team were host to Phillipsburg to open their season on Sept. 3 and fell to Panthers 20-0 in the varsity A-team game for a 0-1 start.

After a scoreless first quarter, Phillipsburg scored on a 2 yard run at the 2:48 mark in the second quarter and punched in the PAT for the early 8-0 lead going into the second half.

The Panthers scored on the last play in the third quarter to extend the lead 14-0 in the second half. They added a 4 yard running touchdown at the 2:20 mark of the fourth quarter for the final 20-0 victory over the Trojans.

The B-team ended with a scoreless game for both Beloit and Phillipsburg.
