Six Lady Trojans earn NCAA League honors

BELOIT – Six Lady Trojans have been named with the 2018 NCAA volleyball All-League First Team and Honorable Mention honors after a third place team State finish. The Beloit team made history as the first ladies to hang a banner in the Beloit Jr/Sr High School gymnasium and ended with a new school record at 37-6, undefeated in the league at 12-0.

Making the NCAA All-League First team are senior Breezy Schroeder No. 8, junior Shea Larson No. 15, junior Jessica Meier No. 5, freshman Makenzie Travis No. 14, senior Sydney Barrett No. 10. Junior Paige Goddard No. 25 was named as Honorable Mention.

Schroeder, a 5' 6" Libero position four letter winner, was a strong asset to Beloit, covering the floor, and ended her Lady Trojan career with the following stats: Digs: 518 digs; 468/497 (94%), 5.85 digs/set; Serve Receives: 508 serve receive passes 508/538(94%); Serving: 309/333(93%) 52 aces; 283 points. She was also chosen for the All-State tournament team.

Schroeder beat the school record in digs, previously held by Ocean Paul. She also beat the school record on serve receive passes held by Paul.

Larson, a 6' Outside Hitter position two year letter winner, was a team leader at the net and ended with: Attacks: 704 / 752=93.3%, 492 kills(57% kill efficiency), 5.56 kills/set; Serving: 208/224=93%, 31 aces, 214 points; Blocks: 52 blocks, 30 stuff blocks; Digs: 57 digs. .71 digs/set. She was also a 2017 All-League First team player and was chosen for the All-State tournament team this year.

Meier, a 5' 4" Setter/ Opposite position two year letter winner, led the team on setting up the plays as well as covering all areas on the court. She finished her season with Assists: 506 assists, 1157 / 1170(98%), 6.3 assists/set; Attacks: 101/115(88%), 60 kills (52%), 75 kills/set; Blocks: 45 blocks, 14 stuff blocks; Serving: 346/ 371(93%), 38 aces, 307 points; Digs: 126 digs, 1.48 digs/ game, 116/126(92%); Serve Receive: 289 serve receive passes, 261/289(90%). She was also named a 2017 All-League Honorable Mention.

Meier beat her own school record for service points.

Travis and Meier combined to beat the school record in assist, previously held by Josie Wilson.

Travis, a 5' 8" Setter/ Opposite position one year letter winner, ended her season with Assists: 483 assists,993 / 1004(98%), 6.0 assists/set; Attacks: 127/136(93%), 72 kills (52% kill efficiency), .9 kills/set; Blocks: 48 blocks, 26 stuff blocks; Serving: 274/ 282(97%), 25 aces, 172 pts; Digs: 132 digs, 1.65 digs/ game, 134/142 (94%); Serve Receive: 267 serve receive passes, 267/296(90%).

Barrett, a 5' 8" Middle position three year letter winner, ended her Lady Trojan career with Attacks: 372/413-90%, 196 kills(47 % kill efficiency), 2.45 kills/set; Blocks: 85 blocks, 44 stuff blocks; Serve Receive: 417 serve receive passes, 373/ 417(89%); Digs: 145 Digs, 1.81 digs/set, 131/145(90%); Serving: 208/224(93%), 14 Aces, 174 points. She was also named a 2017 All-League First Team.

Goddard, a 5' 11" Outside Hitter position one year letter winner, finished with Attacks: 315 /357=88%, 183 Kills(51% kill efficiency), 3.3 kills/set; Blocks: 29 Blocks, 16 Stuff Blocks.
