Beloit Jr. High ladies end season as NCAA Runners-Up

ELLSWORTH – Beloit Junior High A team was seeded first getting a Bye the first round in tournament play. Minneapolis was seeded second, Ellsworth third, Sacred Heart fourth, Southeast of Saline fifth and Republic County sixth. Beloit beat Sacred Heart with a score of 25-8, 25-21 putting them in the Championship match versus Ellsworth. Beloit succumbed to Ellsworth in three 25-8, 19-25, 14-16 taking home second place medals. Landry Litton had an amazing serving day leading with 21 points, 8 aces, followed by Colbi Stroede with 14, 4 aces, Bently Pruitt with 10 points, 3 aces, Reagan Cheney with 10 points, 2 aces, Samantha Thompson with 5 points, 2 aces, and Scarlett Ludwig with 4 points, 1 ace.

Lady Jays are State bound as Sub-State Champions

BELOIT – The St. John’s/ Tipton Lady Jays were hosts to their own Sub-State and earned the Championship title on Saturday, Oct. 22. They are now State-bound to Emporia on Friday as the # 4 seed team at 31-7. This is the sixth appearance at State for the Lady Jays in the last 10 years with six Sub-State Championship titles. They have 10 Northern Plains League Championship title in the last 16 years. “ The Lady Jays have overcame many obstacles this year,” said Coach Stacy Perez. “ On Saturday, they did everything we asked of them. Staying strong and determined after getting down 7 points in the 2nd match and coming back to win showed just how much they wanted it. We are so proud of them. The Lady Jays haven't been to state in volleyball for four years. These ladies made a goal and achieved it. We discussed on Monday staying focused and not stopping at an appearance.”
