Canton-Galva continues undefeated with Blujay win

St. John’ s/Tipton traveled to Canton-Galva for a non-district matchup against the #2 ranked team in Kansas Friday. The Eagles have put on a clinic so far this season, winning all six of their games coming into this game. The Blujays have a tenacious defense so look to disrupt the Eagle’ s highpowered offense. The Blujays were able to make progress at times but the Eagles proved to be too strong of a team. The Blujays were defeated 58-12 and were able to get some much needed experience against a tough opponent as they start their final preparations for the postseason. The Blujays were able to hold the Eagles on their first offensive possession. The Blujay defense was swarming around the ball and showed some impressive containment. The Blujays took over near midfield and Tyson Gates was able to complete a nice pass to Daniel Eilert at the 1 yard line. Gates would punch it in for the TD and the conversion failed, shocking the Eagle fans as they jumped to a 6-0 lead. Thirteen seconds later on the first play, the Eagles RB Lane McMannis busted a 51 yard run for a long score. The Blujays defense held the Eagles on the conversion attempt which knotted the game up at 6-6. On the following Eagle possession the Blujays seen their first nohuddle offense of the season.
