St. John’s compete in Beloit Invitational

BELOIT – The St. John's Blujays Cross Country teams competed at the Beloit Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 29. Other teams participating included Abilene, Beloit, Bennington, Ell-Saline, Lincoln, Minneapolis, Osborne, Plainville, Republic County, Sacred Heart, Smoky Valley Home Educators, Stockton, and Sylvan Unified. The first varsity race of the day was the girls. Runners for the Lady Jays included Jane Letourneau with a 14th place medal in a time of 22:23 followed by Emma Mick in 23rd. Clare Meyer finished 48th.

Beloit CC runners place in host invitational

BELOIT – The Trojan Cross-Country Invitational was held Thursday at the Beloit Country Club. Over 23 schools and 317 runners took advantage of the two mile and 5k course. The first races of the day included Junior High boys and girls competitors running for top ten medal honors. In the 7th/8th boys middle school combined race, Rilee Lundine finished in 5th place with a time of 12:31. Winning the race was Bachman from Smokey Valley Home Educators with time of 11:17. Other Beloit Trojan runners in the race included Cole Sedlacek in 15th, Gavin Wright 17th, Kisaac Hubert in 27th and Tyson Sevilla 46th. Sixty-one runners competed in the ladies high school race. Jenna Balluch was the top Trojan girl across the finish line coming in 19th with a time of 23:17. Ariana Armstrong and Abby Porter finished 25th and 33rd respectively.

Beloit ladies split the wins with Southeast

BELOIT – The third state ranked Beloit ladies were host to Southeast of Saline on Tuesday for a seniors night celebration with Haley Channell as the lone senior on the team. Beloit split the wins with the Trojans of purple and white in two games of three sets. Beloit will now compete in the Concordia tournament on Saturday with a 9 a.m. serve.

Beloit Tennis team place in Ellsworth

ELLSWORTH – The Beloit Ladies Tennis team competed in their last regular season competition in Ellsworth on Sept. 29, 2022 and placed athletes and third as a team behind Salina South in second and Scott City as the champions. They will now prepare for Sub-State action on Oct. 7-8. Beloit results: #1 Singles: Ashlyn Knight, 3-1 – 2nd place #2 Doubles: Shelley Chen and Emry Hardin, 2-2 – 3rd place #1 Doubles: Chloe Odle and Sydney Thompson, 1-3 #2 Singles: Mya Mihm, 04 Team Scores: 1.
