MITCHELL COUNTY, Kan. – Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation (MCRMF), Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems (MCHHS), and generous community donors are proud to recognize 17 area students who have been awarded a combined $15,000 in healthcare scholarships to support their educational journeys.
Scholarship recipients and their families were honored during the Foundation's annual Scholarship Reception held July 9 at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems. The morning celebrated the accomplishments of local students pursuing careers in healthcare while recognizing the donors whose generosity makes these opportunities possible.
Our 2026 scholarship awardees are:
Melvin File Memorial Scholarship: This scholarship awards graduating high school seniors from North Central Kansas planning to enter the medical field. This year's recipients are Lundyn Knight, Luke Cheney, Allie Bourbon, Kaylin Prochaska, Kale Leners, and Ellie Olson.
Jordan Northern Shumate Healthcare Legacy Scholarship: This scholarship is designated for students pursuing higher education, special certification, or training in a healthcare field. The 2026 recipients are Emma Jones and Jessica Arasmith.
Auxiliary Scholarship: This scholarship supports students enrolled in any healthcare-related program. Congratulations to Ella Bottner, Carlie Brummer, Hailee Thornton, and Barklee McMillan.
Jim and Louise Sutton Memorial Nursing Scholarship: Katie Brummer, Jessica Arasmith, Emma Jones, Sam McMillan, and Kaylin Prochaska are this year's recipients.
"Each year, we're encouraged by the passion these students have for serving others through healthcare," said Shelby Bohnert, Executive Director of the Mitchell County Regional Medical Foundation. "...scholarships are made possible through the generosity of our donors, whose investment helps remove financial barriers and supports the next generation of healthcare professionals.
