BELOIT – Rose Cramb of Beloit will be retiring soon, and the Beloit Typewriter will close their doors.
Doug and Rose Cramb purchased the Beloit Typewriter Exchange from Delton and Maxine Green on Sept. 1, 1992. The Clarks first started the business on court street, in 1937. It was then moved to South Mill street, before its present 111 E. Main location.
Doug passed away in 1913 and Rose has been running the business alone ever since, specializing in paper products, religious items, local artists products and more.
“The last 32 and half years has been spent making friends and meeting customers, who many of them have turned into good friends over the years,” said Rose. “Not only Beloit but surrounding towns when I do my routes. I appreciate all of them and will miss them all.”
After her retirement, Rose will be moving to Texas to be near her daughter, Maria, and hopes to see her grandsons, Tim, Keegan, and Liam, more often.
The Beloit Typewriter is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, if you want to grab some of what is left in stock.
“I want to thank each and every one of those that have made my business a success,” Rose said. “I couldn’t not have done it without you.”
