BELOIT – A press release from Beloit Police Department Chief of Police, Chad Lackey, was released, after an incident involving shots being fired in response to a burglary in process.
In the early morning hours of 1/6/25, officers with the Beloit Police Department and deputies with the Mitchell County Sheriff's Department responded to a call of a Burglary in progress at 321 N. Highland in Beloit. Upon their arrival, shots were fired at the officers. A short time later, troopers from the Kansas Highway Patrol and a Game Warden with Kansas Wildlife and Parks arrived to assist. Communication protocol was established, the premises was secured, and two suspects were peacefully apprehended. No injuries were sustained by officers, suspects, or the public, and all threats were neutralized to ensure and resume public safety. The investigation is ongoing.
