First half leads Lincoln over Blujay boys win

LINCOLN – The St. John’s/Tipton boys basketball team were on the road on Dec. 20, 2024, and lost to Lincoln 52-37. They will now prepare to host Sacred Heart on Jan. 9, after the holiday break.

The Lincoln Leopards took the early lead scoring 18-7 in the first quarter and 13-2 in the second quarter, for the 31-9 lead. St. John’s/Tipton came back to outscore in the third quarter, 12-8, but still trailed 39-21. The Blujays outscored again in the fourth quarter, 16-13, but it was too late as time ran out, and Lincoln won 52-37.

Kaden Rabe scored 3 points off a trey. Edward Horinek and Ryker Allen both contributed 2 points each for the 7 points scored by the Blujays in the first quarter. 

Ryker Allen was the lone scorer for the Blujays in the second quarter with a 2 point shot, as Lincoln added on 13 points for the 31-9 halftime lead.

Edward Horinek came out in the third quarter, finding his shots for an added 11 points off five field goals and a bonus point. Dominic Eilert added a bonus point as the Blujays outscored 12-8 and trailed 39-21.

Hornek led the Jays in the fourth quarter scoring 6 points off two field goals. Grant Goodaker and Tyson Gates both added a three point shot of their own, for 3 points each. Allen added a field goal for two points and Dominic Eilert walked to the line for two free shots as St. John’s/Tipton outscored 16-13. Lincoln took the early first half lead and hung on for the 52-27 win.

Edward Horinek led the Jays with 19 points. Ryker Allen scored 6 points; Kaden Rabe, Grant Goodaker, Dominic Eilert and Tyson Gates 3 points each.
