BELOIT – The St. John’s/Tipton Lady Jays fell just short to Rock Hills ladies, losing 60-58.
Lady Jays senior, Carlie Brummer hit her 1,000 career point mark, as she led the team scoring 29 points. The Lady Jays fall to 3-4 on the season and will now face Osborne on Tuesday, Jan. 14, on the road.
St. John’s/Tipton trailed 18-15 after the first quarter and just by one point, 27-26, at halftime. The Lady Jays trailed after the third quarter, 40-47, and fell to Rock Hills by just two points in the fourth quarter, 60-58.
Brummer led in the first quarter scoring 8 points off two treys and a field goal. Ava Brummer scored 4 points off a field goal and two free shots. Lynelle Gengler scored 2 points off a field goal and Addison Bergmann contributed 1 points at the free throw line, as Rock Hills took the early 18-15 lead. The Lady Jays came back in the second quarter outscoring 11-9, as Carlie Brummer added 8 points off four field goals. Lynelle Gengler scored on a field goal for 2 and Ava Brummer added a free throw point. St. John’s/Tipton ended the first half trailing by one point, 27-26.
Rock Hills outscored 20-14, in the third quarter to keep the Lady Jays behind, 47-40. Carlie Brummer added more to her high 29 point game score, with 9 points off three field goals and a trey. Lynelle Gengler scored 5 points off two field goals and a free shot for 5 points.
The Lady Jays outscored 18-13 in the final fourth quarter to come back within two points.
Carlie Brummer scored 4 points off a trey and a free shot. Kendra Gengler and Ava Brummer both added 4 points off two field goals each. Christiana Niewald landed a trey and a free shot for 4 points and Lynell Gengler added a field goal for 2 points.
