Lady Jays get left behind to Clifton/Clyde

CLIFTON/CLYDE – The St. John’s/Tipton Lady Jays lost to Clifton/Clyde on the road on Jan. 17,  80-49. They will face Sacred Heart on Jan. 9, after the Christmas break.

Clifton/Clyde ladies took the early lead 24-6 after the first quarter. They outscored 26-17 in the second quarter for the 50-23 first half lead.

The Lady Eagles continued to outscore 17-10 in the third quarter to extend their lead, 67-33. The Lady Jays outscored 14-13 in the final quarter, but lost to Clifton/Clyde, 80-47. 

Ava Brummer, Addison Bergmann, and Lineale Gengler all landed field goals in the first quarter for the 6 points scored, as the Lady Jays trailed 24-6.

Carlie Brummer landed two three pointers and added two free shots for 8 points scored. Kendra Gengler landed two field goals and a free shot for 5 points. Lynelle Gengler landed two field goals for 4 points. St. John’s/Tipton trailed 50-23 at halftime.

Carlie Brummer added two field goals and two bonus shots for 6 points in the third quarter. Kendra Gengler landed a field goal and Christiana NIewald a bonus point, as Clifton/Clyde extended their lead, 67-33.

The Lady Jays scored 14-13 in the fourth quarter with Carlie Brummer leading with 6 points off three field goals. Ava Brummer, Kendra Gengler, Lynelle Gengler and Christiana Niewald all added field goals for 2 points each. St. John’s/Tipton Lady Jays lost to Clifton/Clyde, 80-47.

Carlie Brummer led the Lady Jays in double digits scoring 20 points. Kendra Gengler scored 9 points; Lynelle Gengler 8; Ava Brummer 5; Christiana Niewald 3; Addison Bergmann 2.
