BELOIT – With numerous scams being presented in the world, the Mitchell County Fraud Squad will present their second fraud seminar beginning at 5:30 p.m., with a free meal and meeting to follow at 6 p.m., on April 23 at Fort Hays Tech | North Central. They will offer all new content. There is limited space, so please RSVP to Stephanie Kadel by April 20 by calling 785-738-2251 or email skadel@bankoftescott.com. There will be a drawing for everyone that has submitted an RSVP, which is greatly appreciated.

With scams such as people calling about Social Security, the Publishers House Sweepstakes and more, these issues have become quite an issue and this program offers information on what to watch out for and what to do if caught up in a scam.

A great and simple tool to thwart most hacking of accounts is MFA. Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is critical because it adds essential layers of security beyond passwords, making users 99% less likely to be hacked. By requiring at least two forms of verification (e.g., password + mobile code), it stops attackers from accessing accounts even if they steal credentials through phishing or data breaches.

This and more essential fraud protection topics will be discussed at the Mitchell County Fraud Squad Event, April 23, at the Technical College cafeteria. Look for more information on their Mitchell County Fraud Squad FB page.
