Nora M. (Powers/Mosher) Prochaska, 78, Simpson

SIMPSON – Nora M. (Powers/Mosher) Prochaska passed away April 20,2025 in Littleton Colorado. Nora was born July 20,1946 to Bernard Powers and Geneva (Schmidt) Powers in Beloit,KS. She joined her siblings Bud, Jim, Kathy, and Terry. Nora lived most of her youth in Beloit,KS only moving to Concordia,KS, due to her mother’s employment with the telephone company. In Concordia, she made many friends, she met and married Gary Mosher from Hollis,KS. Nora and Gary had three children, Christine (Chris), John Adam (Adam), Gary Lee (Gary). They lived in the Hollis area until her husband Gary’s death in 1982. At that time Nora decided to move the family to Beloit,KS, to live with her mother. Nora met and married Dale K. Prochaska in 1983, and they had almost 40 years together until Dale passed away in 2022.

Nora loved to watch her children and grandchildren participate in sports and other activities. She especially enjoyed yelling from the sidelines at football games, everyone knew when she was at the game! Nora had recently moved to CastleRock, Colorado, to live with Gary’s family so she could continue the tradition, by watching her youngest grandchildren’s activities. Nora was always proud of all her grandchildren. Nora loved living in the country, especially on the farm south of Simpson. She enjoyed working at Trapper Joe’s and the house cleaning she did around the area.

Nora was preceded in death by her parents Bernard Powers and Geneva (Schmidt) Powers of Beloit,KS. Her first husband Gary L. Mosher of rural Concordia,KS, and her second husband Dale K. Prochaska of rural Simpson, KS. Nora is survived by her children Christine (Mosher) Zumbrunn of CastleRock, CO; Adam (Jodi) Mosher of Beloit, KS; Gary(Sarah) of Castle Rock, CO. Grandchildren: John (Sabrina) of Glen Elder,KS; Jared Mosher of Dodge City, KS; Jeremy Mosher of Beloit, KS; Jayden Mosher of Beloit,KS; Alexander Mosher of Castle Rock, CO; Ryker Mosher of Castle Rock, CO. Two step grand-daughters Rachel (Michelle) Rivers of rural Wilsey,KS; Tabitha Tatman of El Dorado,KS. Great grandchildren: Nash, Everleigh, Maverick and Owen of Glen Elder,KS. Her siblings: Bud (Wilda) Powers of Virginia Beach, VA; Jim (Teresa) Powers of Lakin,KS; Kathy (Don) Prochaska of Glasco,KS; Terry (Roberta) Powers of Beloit ,KS. Along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will take place May 11, 2025 at the Simpson Community building, in Simpson, KS. Family will gather from 10:30 to 12:30 for a private remembrance. Friends are encouraged to stop by from 12:30 to 2:00 to remember Nora and share stories. Her feisty spirit will be missed!
