St. John’s Lady Jays finish fourth in Bennington track

Blujay boys place fifth to open the season

BENNINGTON – The St. John’s Catholic High School track teams opened their season at the Bennington track Invitational on April 4. They will now host their invitational on April 8 and then travel to Smith Center on April 15.

The Lady Jays placed fourth overall as a team with 59 points earning two gold medals; one silver medal; three bronze medals; three 4th place; and two 6th place. 

Gold medalists were Christiana Niewald in the 3200m run with a time of 13:17.36; Kendra Gengler in the 300m hurdles with a time of 54.11.

A silver medal went to Lynelle Gengler in the 800m run with a time of 2:38.44.

Bronze medals went to, Kendra Gengler in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.57 and in the triple jump with a distance of 30’ 3”; Gianna Horinek in the discus with a throw of 92’ 6”.

Placing fourth were, Christiana Niewald in the 400m dash with a time of 1:08.12; the 4x100m throwers relay team of Emma DiNuzzo, Zoe Clark, Maura Knapper and Maryann Walter with a time of 1:05.59; the 4x400m relay team of Lynelle Gengler, Myla Holdren, Addison Bergmann, and Zellie Horinek with a time of 4:56.57.

Sixth place went to, Zelie Horinek in the 200m dash with a time of 30.95; Lynelle Gengler in the javelin with a throw of 91’ 8”.

The Blujay boys team placed fifth, earning two gold medals; two silver medals; two bronze medals, three 4th place; four 5th place; and two 6th place.

Gold medalists were, Tyson Gates in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.70; Edward Horinek in the triple jump with a distance of 43’.

Silver medals went to, Tyson Gates in the 300m hurdles with a time of 43.45; the 4x100m relay team of Tyson Gates, Cadyn Brummer, Henry Holdren, and Edward Horinek with a time of 46.98.

Bronze medals went to, Cadyn Brummer in the 100m dash with a time of 12.17; Edward Horinek in the 200m dash with a time of 24.88.

Placing fourth were, Cadyn Brummer in the 200m dash with a time of 24.97; the 4x800m relay team of Henry Holdren, Nicholas Niewald, Jonas Letourneau, and Dominic Eilert with a time of 9:31.29; Gabriel Roderick in the high jump with a clearing of 5’ 8”.

Fifth place went to, Henry Holdren in the 800m run with a time of 2:15.72; Gabriel Roderick in the 3200m run with a time of 11:21.18; Henry Woods in the 110m hurdles with a time of 21.25; the 4x400m relay team of Henry Holdren, Cadyn Brummer, Edward Horinek, and Canaan Letourneau with a time of 3:55.30.

Placing sixth were, Nicholas Niewald in the 400m dash with a time of 58.05; Jeremiah Roderick in the 3200m run with a time of 11:36.94.
