BELOIT – The St. John’s/Tipton Blujays were host to Rock Hills on Jan. 10, 2025 and won over the Grizzlies, 78-67.
The Blujays are now 4-3 on the season and will face Osborne on the road on Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The Jays took the early 19-12 lead after the first quarter, and outscored 15-9 in the second quarter for the 34-21 halftime lead. The Blujays scored 25-21 in the third quarter to hold on to the 59-42 lead. They scored 19-25 and ended the game with the 78-67 win.
Gabriel Roderick led the Blujays in the first quarter, scoring off two field goals and two treys for 10 points. Nicholas Niewald added a three point shot. Grant Goodaker, John Mick and Edward Horinek all contributed two points each as St. John’s/Tipton led 19-12.
Roderick led again in the second quarter, scoring 5 points off a three point shot and a field goal. Both Niewald and Horinek landed three pointers and Mick and Dominic Eilert both added field goals for 2 points each. The Blujays led over Rock Hills 34-21 for the halftime lead.
Horinek led the Jays in the third quarter scoring 7 points off a trey and two field goals. Tyson Gates followed with 5 points off a trey and a field goal. Roderick scored 4 points off two field goals and Goodaker added a 3 point shot of his own. Niewald, and Kaden Rabe both landed field goals for 2 points each, as St. John’s/Tipton held the 59-42 lead.
Gates led in the fourth quarter scoring 11 points with a trey a field goal and shot 6-8 at the free throw line. Niewald and Eilert both landed field goals for two points each. Goodaker and Horinek were sent to the line for 2 points each. The Blujays came back from the holiday break to start off the New Year with a win over Rock Hills, 78-67.
