LINCOLN – The St. John’s/Tipton Lady Jays faced Sylvan/Lucas on Tuesday, Jan. 21, in the Northern Plains League tournament and defeated the Lady Mustangs, 49-34, to advance in Friday’s game against Osborne.
Lady Jays outscored 13-9 in the first quarter for the early lead. They outscored 10-6 in the second quarter for the 23-15 halftime lead. Lady Jays outscored 13-11 for the 36-26 lead and 13-8 in the fourth quarter for the 49-34 win.
Carlie Brummer led the Lady Jays in the first quarter, scoring 7 points off two field goals and a three point shot. Christiana Niewald scored on a three point shot and Lynelle Gengler scored 2 points off a field goal. Addison Bergmann added a free shot for 1 point.
Lynelle Gengler led the Lady Jays in the second quarter scoring 6 points off three field goals. Carlie Brummer scored 4 points off a field goal and two free shots, as St. John’s/Tipton led 23-15.
Carlie Brummer led in the third quarter as the solo scorer with 13 points off three treys and two field goals, to help extend the Lady Jay lead, 36-26.
Carlie Brummer added 6 points in the final quarter with three field goals. Lynelle Gengler scored 5 points off two field goals and a free shot. Kendra Gengler added a 2 point field goal, as the Lady Jays won over the Mustangs, 49-34.
Carlie Brummer led the Lady Jays on the board with 30 points followed by Lynelle Gengler with 13 points. Christiana Niewald scored 3 points; Kendra Gengler 2; Addison Bergmann 1.
