BELOIT - Elizabeth Ann Fugate was bom May 14th, 1932 in Garden City, Missouri to Dr. Carl Frederick and Edith Webb Fischer. She passed away January 19, 2024 at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 5 days. Ann graduated from Garden City High School in 1950 and the University of Missouri at Columbia in 1954 with a degree in education. Ann taught home economics in 1954-55 at Naylor High School in Missouri and later served as a substitute teacher in the Turner, KS school district.

Arm met Lloyd Fugate in 1953 when they were lab partners in biology at MU. They were married on June 19, 1954. Lloyd and Ann enjoyed 62 wonderful years of marriage prior to Lloyd’s death in 2017. Ann enjoyed caring for her family and was happiest cooking, baking, gardening and canning. Ann and Lloyd moved to Beloit in 2005 so that they could be closer to family. They quickly integrated into the Beloit community and with Lloyd, she was active in the Beloit First Christian Church, the community garden project, judging 4H fair exhibits and delivering meals on wheels. She also enjoyed knitting with the Lutheran Church sewing group.

Ann is survived by her brother George Fischer of Amity, MO, sons Dr. Carl (Mary) Fugate of Beloit and Dr. Michael Fugate (Dr.

Bonnie Thome) of Riverside, CA, five grandchildren Joe (Samantha) Fugate and Ben (Hannah) Fugate of Beloit, Josh Fugate (Sarah Kugler) of Lawrence, KS, Natalie Fugate of Riverside, CA and Chris Hoffman, CA, 4 great grandchildren Liam, Sloane, Blaire and Fisher of Beloit.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Saturday, January 27 at the Beloit First Christian Church. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-6 PM Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Beloit First Christian Church or Summer Kids Cafe. Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
