Anna Gasper, 96, Beloit

BELOIT – Anna Marie (Cordel) Gasper was born on July 27, 1926 to Anton and Marie (Urban) Cordel, the oldest of seven children. She passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Mitchell County Hospital Health Systems in Beloit, Kansas. Born and raised on the Cordel family farm west of Tipton, Anna attended St. Boniface Grade School in Tipton, Kansas. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1944. After high school, she worked at Tipton State Bank.

Anna met the love of her life, Norbert Gasper, at a dance in Downs. They were united in marriage on April 8, 1947 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Tipton. To this union were born eight children: Michael Dean, Robert Leon, Mary Jane, Sheila Ann, Joseph Dale, Brenda Susan, Carl Norbert and Carla Rene. They made their home on a farm five miles southwest of Tipton, for 43 years, where they tended the land and raised dairy cows. In 1990 they moved to Beloit. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 1997.

Anna was a homemaker and Norbert’ s farming partner, spending many hours milking cows, tending chickens, gardening, baking and completing other farm chores. She had a strong faith and a great love for her family. She enjoyed sewing, embroidering and quilting many gifts for her children and grandchildren. Anna loved listening and dancing to polka music. Although she was a very hard worker, she also had a fun and ornery streak to her as well. Her family will remember her cooking, especially freshly baked loaves of bread, cinnamon rolls and caramel chip cookies. Anna loved to play card games and Rummikub with her family, and was sometimes known to cheat!

Anna was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. John’ s Catholic Church, and a 70-year member of the Daughters of Isabella St. Rose Circle #205.
