Bonnie Louise Hruza Hardin, 86, Beloit

Bonnie Louise Hruza Hardin

BELOIT – Bonnie Louise Hruza Hardin, 86, passed away at her home in Beloit, Kansas, on May 31, 2023.

She was born on December 18, 1936, in Rupert, Idaho, to Melvin Alford Hruza and Mable Clara Livingston Hruza, and was the oldest of three children. She attended elementary school in Acequia, Idaho, and was the valedictorian of her 8th grade class. She attended high school at Rupert High School. After high school, she worked as an operator for Project Mutual Telephone.

She married Dave Hardin on May 11, 1956, and their first home was in the Malta/Declo area where Dave worked for his uncle drilling wells. Dave took a job as a welder for Lockwood Graders, and they were transferred to Idaho Falls not long after that.

Music and faith were a big part of Bonnie and Dave’s life. They served as the worship leaders of the churches they attended in Idaho Falls. Dave led the singing, and Bonnie was his accompanist on the piano. Their children also learned to play instruments and became part of worship ministry.

Bonnie and Dave moved to Rexburg, Idaho, in 1972, where Dave had was a salesman for Tri County Equipment. Bonnie continued as a wife and homemaker, and for a time had a motor delivery route in the Rexburg area for the newspaper The Post Register. She enjoyed gardening and camping. Some favorite camping trips were to Yellowstone Park, north Idaho to check out the historical markers on the highway, northern Utah to see Bridal Veil falls and the Heber Creeper, and the Redfish Lake/Challis area of Idaho. Bonnie enjoyed family get togethers, especially the times spent together in the Bunk House snowmobiling in Island Park and Yellowstone.

After their youngest child graduated from high school, Dave retired, and they moved to Pocatello. They were active members of Christ Church, and still enjoyed camping, and attending grandchildren’s school and sporting events.

Dave passed away in August of 2014, and Bonnie continued living in Pocatello enjoying her time with family and friends from church. In 2017 Bonnie moved to Beloit, Kansas, to be close to her youngest son and his family. This time also involved some camping and adventure.

Bonnie is survived by her brothers Jim Hruza and Eugene Hruza, and her children, Brent (Raelene) Hardin, Taylorsville, Utah, Mike (Rose) Hardin, Rexburg, Idaho, Lynette (Nate) Hardin LaGrone, New Meadows, Idaho, Gary (Bonnie) Hardin, Pocatello, Idaho, Carol (Tommy) Hardin Walker, Wasilla, Alaska, and Scott (Denielle) Bush Hardin, Beloit, Kansas; 17 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Dave.
