Carol Jean Wessling, 89, Beloit

BELOIT – Carol Jean Wessling, 89, (July 15, 1932 – April 14, 2022) of Hillsboro Oregon was called to her eternal rest at the age of 89 when passing suddenly on April 14, 2022.

Carol was born in Beloit Kansas, the third child of five children born to Anne and James Widrig. She attended Rodger’s grade school and graduated in the class of 1950 from Beloit High School. Some of her happiest times were coming back to Beloit for her class reunions.

After graduating, Carol moved to Topeka Kansas and worked at the Central National Bank. While home for a weekend she had a blind date with Edward Wessling who was home on leave from the Navy. Carol continued to work at the bank until Edward got out of the Navy.

On January 16, 1954, she was united in marriage to Edward Wessling at the chapel at Moffett Field Naval Airbase in California. From this happy union two sons were born, Mark Stephen and Brian Edward.

The Family moved to a farm in Beloit Kansas until 1959, when they relocated to Long Beach, California. In California, Carol worked in food service, a dress shop and a Bank.

In 1966, the family boarded the SS Guam Bear Cargo Ship of Pacific Far East Lines on a three-week journey to Guam. Carol again worked in the food service industry until accepting employment with KUAM Radio and Television where she worked for 19 years as the Radio and TV traffic manager.

Edward passed away in 1991 and Carol remained in Guam. In 2004 Carol relocated to Hillsboro Oregon where she remained until her passing. Carol resided at Tarkington Square, where many senior citizens resided. She made many close friends. Carol had a flair for decorating so every holiday the apartment building would receive a new look of flowers, decorations and pictures celebrating the occasion.

Family was very important to Carol, she made seven trips back to Guam visiting her children, grandchildren and friends. She was good at remembering your birthday and anniversary, making sure to send a card to you to celebrate the occasion. She also enjoyed the special visits from her family members from Guam, Arizona and Kansas to Hillsboro, Oregon. She was always excited to share with her visitors the experience of strolling down Main Street during the Saturday Markets, taking pleasure in the fresh vegetables, fruits, flowers and food.

Carol is additionally survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Our Mother was a believer in our Lord Jesus Christ and affirmed her salvation through her belief in Him as her Lord and Savior, we are comforted to know that she is in heaven and that we will be reunited with her and dad at the time of our calling.

Her inurnment service will be at the St. John’s Cemetery in Beloit, Kansas alongside dad on July 15, 2022 in celebration of her 90th birthday.
