Charles D. Bock I, 79, Cawker City

CAWKER CITY – Charles D. Bock was born Jan. 4, 1943 to Elmer and Louise (Folger) Bock in their home, Cawker City, KS. Charley entered his heavenly home on February 28, 2022 at the age of 79 years.

Charley attended Cawker City schools graduating as a Pirate from Cawker City High School in 1961. He helped at his Great Uncle Charles Vasterling’ s furniture store with his mother. He attended Fort Hays College for a couple years.

He helped build his home in Cawker in 1966 where he lived for the remaining 55 years of his life. Charley married his sweetheart, Roberta (Battishill) on March 18, 1978 and enjoyed almost 44 years of marriage.

He worked at Boettcher Supply in Beloit, KS for over 40 years, retiring in 2014. He was the Telecommunications Manager. Charley was proud of all three of his sons and some son-in-laws who worked in the IT industry as well. He had a great aptitude for technology. He taught himself computer programming and did website design.

Charley loved Jesus and was devoted to learning and sharing God’ s word. He enjoyed various area men’ s Bible studies through the years. He memorized the Christmas story from Luke 2. Often reciting the entire chapter from memory at his church, Lighthouse Community Church, Downs, KS. Charley enjoyed singing, starting from his high school Glee Club. He was the bass singer in the GloryLand Quartet.

Preceding him in death were his parents and daughter-Holly Louise.

Celebrating his life and looking forward to a heavenly reunion is his wife and dear caregiver of over 43 years, Roberta of the home, Cawker City. Charley was blessed with 14 Grandchildren plus one on the way, 7 Greatgrandchildren plus one on the way: Brooke (Jonathan) Mayfield- RJ, Elianna; Brianne (Reese) Bintz-Alayna, Aydon; Ashley (Jenkins) Pombo- Amaris, Aliza, Jessalyn; Abbie Norcross; Fhallon (Anthony) Ortiz; Gabbi & Charlie Rhew; Wyatt Gray; Brayson Bock; Libertie & Jubilie Glasco; Annabelle, Asher & KarieAnn Tedford

Funeral services will be at Lighthouse Community Church, Downs on Saturday, March 5, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Prairie Grove Cemetery, Cawker City KS. Memorials may be given to Lighthouse Community Church, Downs, KS or Living Water Fellowship Church, Bird City, KS. In care of Schoen Funeral Home and Monuments. Online condolences to schoenfhm.com
