Dan Koenigsman, 61, Colorado Springs, Colorado

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – Dan Koenigsman, age 61, died March 29, 2022 after a sudden, unanticipated heart issue. Dan was born in Beloit, Kansas to Fred and Peggy Koenigsman in 1961. He married Ann Elise Ryan, who he met on a blind date, and they loved each other deeply for all of their more than 39 years of marriage. Dan and Ann have two beautiful children, Ryan Patrick Koenigsman and Amy Elise Koenigsman. Dan loved his children fiercely and was a wonderful father and husband. Ryan and Amy knew their father to be always present, committed to helping them in any way he could to launch in life, and their best friend.

Dan was a caring, gentle friend to so many. His goal in life was to help others and that is how he spent his time. He took every opportunity to play practical jokes on his family and coworkers, and his children knew him to be a goofball. He took great pleasure in the places he lived and the people he met while living in Kansas, California and Colorado.

His last years included frequent trips to “the river” with Ann where they had their favorite places to picnic along the Colorado rivers. He considered Garden of the Gods Park and Rock Ledge Ranch two of his happy places, where Dan and Ann often walked and talked about their days after work.

Dan was an auto body technician at Red Noland Collision Center for 18 years, and really a true artisan with his work. He took great pride in his trade and treated every car as if his family would be driving it. He met a lot of his good friends “by accident”!

Dan loved his family deeply and that included his sisters Jeanne, Pat and Janet and their families. He loved Ann’s family as well including her brother Pat, sister Melissa and their families.

Dan was warm, compassionate, empathetic and genuine. He enjoyed all people and he loved life, from fishing, basketball breaks and darts at work with the guys, gardening, making Dan and Ann’s home beautiful including a handcrafted fireplace mantel, taking breaks at Starbucks and just sitting in the Colorado sunshine. Dan was a strong supporter of Ann’s career and was proud to be by her side in attendance for the numerous social events. He loved it all! His contributions to this world were innumerable, but his best accomplishment, and that of which he was most proud, was showing Ann and Ryan and Amy how much he loved them.

We hope you can join us this summer as we gather for a celebration of his wonderful life. We give thanks to God for entrusting us with his precious soul while on this earth.

Dan was a strong supporter of the work at Care and Share Food Bank in Colorado Springs, and you may honor him with a gift to Care and Share by noting the Dan Koenigsman fund.
