Dennis Isbell, 73, Beloit

BELOIT – Dennis Lee Isbell, the son of Leroy and Gertrude Mortimer Isbell, was born on September 11, 1948 in Salina, Kansas. He died early Friday, November 26, 2021 at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit, Kansas at the age of 73.

Dennis grew up in Beloit where he graduated from Beloit High School in 1966. Following graduation, he attended Fort Hays State University.

He returned to Beloit and worked for Peterson Construction. He then worked for Beloit Motor Company retiring in 2018 after 48 years of service.

Dennis married Patricia Heidrick on June 3, 1972. To this union four children were born, Kerri, Corey, Ryan, and Brandon.

In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and wood working. He was also an avid sports fan, especially when it came to baseball. He coached Cookie baseball for many years, as well as K-18. He loved collecting baseball memorabilia and coins. He loved supporting his children and grandchildren in all their activities and was always affectionately known as Papa Dino. Grandchildren could not leave the house without a Papa Dino fist bump.

Dennis served as Past President of the Eagles Club and was also a member of the Elks Lodge. He was also a charter member of the Mitchell County Rescue Squad, where he served for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gertrude and Leroy; twin infant siblings; parents in law, Eugene and Irene Heidrick; and brother-in-law, Ronald Heidrick

Dennis is survived by his wife of 49 years Patricia of the home; daughter, Kerri and husband Cris Adams of Beloit; sons, Corey and wife Heather of Beloit, Ryan and wife Jenny of Beloit, and Brandon of Phoenix, Az; nine grandchildren, Cooper, Kennedy, Parker, Kohler, Landrey, Joley, Max, Boone, and Banks; brother, David of Salina; sister, Jan and husband Ken Stoecker of Hutchinson; sister in law, Janet Snedden; brother in law, Dave Heidrick and wife Jane; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10 AM Tuesday, November 30 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home and the family requests casual attire. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-7 PM Monday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the USD 273 Educational Foundation. Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
