Geneva Pearson, 103, Beloit

BELOIT - Geneva Lorraine Pearson, daughter of Terrance and Eliza Studer Campbell, was bom June 21, 1919 on a farm in Southwest Mitchell County. She left her earthly home on October 7, 2022 at the Mitchell County Hospital at the age of 103. Geneva attended Elmira Grade School, followed by Beloit High School, graduating with the class of 1937. Following graduation, she worked at the ASC Office in Beloit. Geneva was united in marriage to Delmar L. Pearson October 12, 1941. She and Delmar relocated to Wichita to work in airplane factories, Geneva working at Beach, Boeing and Cessna. She was a true-life Rosie the Riveter, working on B29 bombers during World War 2. In 1946, they returned to the family farm in Center Township. Geneva was an accomplished farm wife. She was a remarkable cook, always on the look-out for a new tastysounding recipe. Her dinner rolls and pies were a mouthwatering treat to many lucky folks!

Geneva belonged to several local clubs, among them the Waconda Chapter of the Kansas Anthropological Association. She enjoyed many field trips to area museums. She was interested in history and genealogy. She loved to travel. Geneva appreciated the written word, reading newspapers and magazines cover to cover until the very end.

She was an avid crafter, producing beautiful quilts, embroidered and crocheted projects. She enjoyed picking wild plums and gooseberries and making jams. She loved feeding birds and gardening. Geneva took delight in farm cats, who grew plump from her tasty leftovers.

Geneva was able to live in her own home until age 101, when illness necessitated a move to the Nicol Home in Glasco, KS.

Geneva was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 59 years, Delmar, brother Clifford Campbell, and his wife Faye, brother-inlaw Carl Pearson and his wife, Catherine, and her great-niece, Amy Pearson. She is survived by her sons: Bill, of Denver, CO, and Gail (Robin), of Beloit. Grandchildren Justin Pearson, Sarah Stevenson (Aaron), Andrew Pearson, Daphne Chapman (Brian), and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Thursday, October 13 at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 1-7 PM with family present from 5-7 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Mitchell County Historical Society or the Post Rock Humane Society. Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left
