Jerry W. Steinman, 77, Stafford
STAFFORD – Jerry W. Steinman, 77, passed away on March 1, 2022, at Salina Regional Health Center, after an undaunted five-year battle with kidney disease.
He was born September 16, 1944, in Great Bend, Kansas, the oldest child of Richard and Dorothy (Wesley) Steinman. He graduated from St. John High School in 1962. His love of planes and flying led him to enlist with the U.S. Navy immediately following graduation. He was honored to have served our country in the U.S. Navy and the Vietnam War. He worked for the Stafford County Co-op and the United States Postal Service as postmaster at Sylvia, Kansas, where he earned many honors and awards until his retirement. He was most proud of his four granddaughters and their accomplishments; they always brought a huge smile to his face. He enjoyed hunting, woodworking, and collecting United States Postal Service memorabilia. He provided the pilot flight suits, helmets, and oxygen masks for the U.S. Navy retired F-14 Tomcat Fighter Jet off Interstate 70, Eisenhower Park, WaKeeney, Kansas, as a tribute to Veterans. He was a member of National Association of Postmasters of the United States, National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association Chapter 1709, lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans, lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3111, and lifetime member of The American Legion Post 180.
He was united in marriage to Darlene Clothier on December 13, 1965, she passed away in August 2016. They had three children. He married Donda Dahl, she passed away in June 2020.
Survivors include daughters Karen (Scott) Snyder of Pelham, Alabama, Connie (Mark) Hafliger of Beloit, Kansas, and son Anthony Steinman of Wichita, Kansas, brother Norman Dean (Karen) Steinman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, sister Norma Jean (Edwin) Ford of Kernersville, North Carolina, granddaughters Paige Hafliger of Lenexa, Kansas, Kylie Snyder of Pelham, Alabama, Allie Hafliger of Beloit, Kansas, Morgan Snyder of Pelham, Alabama, niece Deana (Matt) Mock, of Hutchinson, Kansas, nephew Bryan Ford, of Kernersville, North Carolina, niece Jaymee Ford and Laydon, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife of his children Darlene Martin, wife Donda Steinman, and niece Milly Mansour.

Service will be held Saturday May 28th, 10:00am at Minnis Chapel, inurnment with military honors will follow at Fairview Park Cemetery St. John, Kansas.
