Loren L. Remus, 60, Glen Elder

Loren Leon Remus

GLEN ELDER - Loren Leon Remus, Glen Elder, KS passed peacefully June 17, 2023. Loren was doing what he enjoyed, checking his cow & calves at the home place.

Loren was born December 3, 1962 at the Community Hospital in Beloit, KS to Shirley (Colson) & Doyle Remus. He was the second of three children. He attended Glen Elder Elementary K-5; finished grades 6-12 & graduated in the Beloit Class of 1981. He attended Hutchinson Community College receiving an Associate’s Degree in Agriculture. Following an introduction from a friend, Loren worked at Stroberg Manufacturing in Hutchinson, meeting many wonderful people who remain friends.

Loren’s life revolved around the farm from a young age. Both Grandpa’s provided plenty of overalls & toy implements in preparation of his vocation. Until he was old enough to help his dad with cattle & crops, he could be found setting up farms, making row crop rounds, & herding cattle with those tiny toys. He later was able to realize his dreams: farming, building a cow/calf herd, & establishing a feedlot.

Loren was preceded in death by his father, Doyle L. Remus, paternal grandparents William J. & Orpha A. Remus, maternal grandparents Lester N. & Leona P. Colson, aunt Bernadette R. Menhusen, & cousin Monty J. Menhusen. He is survived by his mother, Shirley A. Remus, Glen Elder, sister, Aneita Remus, Shawnee, brother Paul (Janet) Remus, Beloit, nephews, Jacob Remus, Beloit & Adam Remus, Manhattan, many special cousins, extended family, friends, and his dog Blue.
