Virginia Wiles, 78, Beloit______________

Virginia Lee (Newquist) Wiles

BELOIT – Virginia Lee (Newquist) Wiles peacefully entered her eternal resting place June 12, 2023 at the Mitchell County Hospital Health System surrounded by her family.

Virginia was born September 28, 1944 at The Community Hospital in Beloit, KS to Harold and Esther (Merklein) Newquist. She was the oldest of four children, one preceded her in death. Virginia attended Cawker City Schools graduating with the Class of 1962 Cawker City Pirates.

On October 14, 1962 Virginia married Darrel R.

Wiles. To this union three daughters were born. Cynthia Lee, Connie Marie, and Cathy Rae. Virginia and Darrel lived on a farm west of Beloit until moving to town in 1977.

Virginia was a homemaker and helped Darrel on the farm. After moving to town, she worked at The Family Cafe, Mainliner Restaurant, 24/66 Restaurant, Boogaarts, and Beloit Motor. She also owned/operated Mode O’ Day for a few years. Virginia was a people person so working with the public was important to her.

Family meant everything to Virginia. Her daughters, siblings, in-laws, nephews, cousins, even long-lost relatives, were always welcome to come visit or stay over. Her pride and joy for her six grandchildren and two great granddaughters was obvious. She loved people, a nice conversation with an acquaintance, or chatting with someone she never met before. Rest assured her conversations would always include her talking about her daughters, grandchildren, great granddaughters and the rest of her family.

Virginia was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Beloit. She loved being the greeter for Saturday night services.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Darrel, her parents, brother Earl, inlaws Hugh and Minnie Wiles and brother-in-law Gene Wiles. Left with a host of memories are her daughters Cindy of Beloit, Connie (Trenton) of Clifton and Cathy (Chris) of Clay Center, sister Judy Newquist of Salina, brother Doug Newquist of Beloit and sisterin- law Janice Wiles of Beloit.

“ Germis” , as her grandchildren fondly referred to her, will miss her dearly, Barrett (Brittnei) Winter of Charlotte, NC, Blade (Bethany) Winter of Clifton, Caleb Carlson and Cody Carlson both of Clay Center.

Great granddaughters Genevieve and Jayde Winter of Clifton and a host family and friends.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday, June 17 at the Zion Lutheran Church.

Visitation will be from 2-7 PM with family present from 5-6:30 PM Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Zion Lutheran Church or USD 273 Endowment Scholarships.

Roberts Family Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements.
