Virginia Halderson, 88, Beloit
GLASCO – Virginia Halderson, Beloit, passed away April 5, 2019 at Mitchell County Resident Care Center, Beloit.
Virginia Rae Fetters was born February 15, 1931, in Manhattan, Kan, the daughter of Ray and Lewida Fetters, Delphos. She attended Glasco schools and graduated from Glasco High School in 1949. She attended Kansas State University, Manhattan.
She married Lowell (Shorty) Halderson in 1950 and they made their home in the Glasco area. An accomplished musician, she was church organist at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church for 57 years and gave private piano lessons in her home.
In 1989, she moved to Topeka and worked for the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Upon retirement in 1994, she moved to Beloit where she worked part-time for two banks and continued providing worship music at area churches.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1977, her parents, and her brother, Richard Fetters.
Survivors include two daughters, Gayle Martin, Salina, and Kris (Greg) Shamburg, Glen Elder; a son, Dane (Kim) Halderson, Delphos; nephews, Jim Fetters, Hutchinson, and Jack (Linda) Fetters, Louisburg, Mo.; eight grandchildren, Drew (Rachael) Halderson; Sarah Giesecke Green; Kimberly (Michael) Martin; Megan (Torey) Hamel; Kelly (Nick) Reling; Morgan (Jared) Schmidt; Aaron Shamburg; and Audrey Shamburg; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Glasco, followed by burial at Glasco Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday, April 8 at Roberts Family Funeral Services with family present from 6 to 7 p.m. The casket will remain closed at the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Glasco Community Foundation; St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, or Mitchell County Resident Care Center, Beloit.
