Dubbert signs to play Newman University basketball
BELOIT – St. John's Catholic High School Senior, Lauryn Dubbert, officially signed her letter of intent recently to play basketball at the collegiate level at Newman University in Wichita.
Dubbert has played a lot of summer basketball with Wheat State Elite and that is where Newman watched her play. She says she is excited to get the opportunity to continue playing the game she loves.
Dubbert passed the 1,000 point mark in her junior season with St. John's/Tipton in 2019-20. She now has 1,105 points heading into her final season. As a junior, she averaged 20.6 ppg, 3.9 rpg, 4.9 spg and 2.8 apg. She scored in double figures in 20 of the 22 games the Lady Jays played and had a career high 36 points against Osborne on January 14. In her career at St. John's/Tipton, Dubbert is averaging 16.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 3.7 spg and 2.8 apg.
Newman plays at the NCAA Division II level that joined the MIAA last year as a private school.
On the Newman University Facebook site, they welcomed Lauryn to their team by saying, "Lauryn is officially a Newman Jet today. She signed her letter of intent to play basketball and I couldn’t be more proud of the hard work and dedication she put in to making this happen. Way to go Lauryn! Can’t wait to watch you play another year at St. John's Catholic High School.
