Lady Jays enter NPL League tournaments Saturday
KENSINGTON – The St. John's/Tipton Lady Jays traveled to face Thunder Ridge on Tuesday and fell short to the Lady Longhorns in three best sets of 24-26, 16-25 and 15-25.
St. John's are now 16-9 going into the Northern Plains League tournament on Saturday in Tescott.
Against Kensington, Ella Wiles led from behind the line scoring 13 points with 1 ace serve followed by Lauryn Dubbert with 12 points; Paige Hollerich 11 points; Jenna Gengler 7 points; Lauren Schmitt and Emma Jones 5 points each; Lauren Ellenz 3 .
Dubbert led the team at the net with 7 kills, 1 block; Wiles 4 kills, 9 blocks; Schmitt 4 kills, 2 blocks; Rachel Gengler 2 kills, 1 block; Ellenz 1 kill; Hollerich 3 blocks.
Leading on the floor was Dubbert with 18 digs, 15 serve receives; Schmitt 12 digs, 7 receives; Wiles 9 digs, 9 receives; Jones 7 digs, 5 receives; Anna Towner 5 digs, 1 receive; Ellenz 4 digs, 9 receives; Rachel Gengler 3 digs, 1 receive; Hollerich 2 digs, Jenna Gengler 1 dig.
Hollerich set up the plays with 17 assists.
The Lady Jays will play in Pool 1 at Tescott High School in their second game at the start of the NPL tournaments against the Osborne Lady Bulldogs on Saturday. They will play game four against the Lincoln Lady Leopards and in game five they will face the Sylvan/Lucas Lady Mustangs.
The Pool 1 Winners will play in game 7 during bracket play. The Pool 1 second place winners will play in game 8. Winners of both games will continue into the championship game 10.
