Ambulance purchase with ARPA funds cleared

Keegan Bailey from the Regional Planning Commission was present to report on the suitability of ARPA grant funds during Monday’ s Mitchell County Commissioners meeting, with which to purchase a new ambulance. After her thorough research of the documentation pertaining to what can and what cannot be purchased with ARPA funds, Bailey reported that because ambulance traffic increased significantly due to COVID, the purchase of an ambulance using ARPA funds was justified. She gave the commissioners the green light to purchase a new ambulance using grant funds.

Isle of Lights Service Learning Day

Isle of Lights Service Learning Day

All Beloit junior high students traveled to Chautauqua park recently to assist in the assembly of the Isle of Lights displays in the park. This is the junior high’ s fifth year assisting with this service-learning project. Students were divided into small groups to work throughout the park guided by their PRIDE advisors. Each small group worked independently in sections of the park to either pound posts that line the roadway or to set up light displays. Students brought their own gloves, mallets, wire cutters, and post-pounders to accomplish the assigned work. The students worked hard and appreciate the chance to be able to give back to their community. The Isle of Lights event will open on Nov. 24 and remain open until Dec. 31 with over 250 designs arranged in the park along the Solomon Valley River. Steph Litton courtesy photo
