Dane Hansen grant benefits county dive team
BELOIT – On Monday, July, 19, the Mitchell County Dive Team was notified that they had received a $16,600 grant award from the Dane G. Hansen Foundation to help support the dive team with training and the purchase of equipment. The dive team is funded through the Mitchell Board of County Commission with the allocation of $7,500.00 dollars annually. The purpose of the dive team is to assist the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office and Mitchell County EMS with water recovery incidents at Waconda Lake that has an annual attendance of 214,000. This would not only include drownings, but also if a vehicle would happen to go into the lake and have to be towed out by a wrecker service. The team can go in and locate the vehicle and get a tow line attached to assist with the recovery process.
